Some of the new paintings I’ve been working on:
I’m still working on a Symbolist depiction of the Greek concept of the microcosm and macrocosm, while figuring out a style that uses large brushstrokes combined with glazes.
Since I’ve been doing lots of circles within a lot of space lately, I decided to try one large circle that fills the canvas, spiraling inwards into a fetal form. This is my personal favourite of this set of 3. The yellow glazes created a very effective sun-like hazy glow.

I combine the pointillism technique with thin layers of glazes to make objects float and disappear in the spatial plane. This painting doesn’t really work as a photograph, since the glazes are so delicate and the canvas is so large; walking up to it and walking away from it as it continues to shift is a major part of this painting’s experience.
